This should be a lot easier to enable, or even be the default setting, considering Windows 10’s use of PINs. But shockingly, it isn’t.
You may have an option to enable “Num Lock at Boot” in your BIOS or UEFI settings screen to do this. However, we tried this and it just didn’t work, even when we disabled Fast Startup. So we found another way–it just takes a little more legwork.
Step One: Edit the Registry

Windows contains registry settings that control the state of the Num Lock, Caps Lock, and Scroll Lock keys at boot. You’ll have to change these registry settings to have Windows 10 automatically enable Num Lock at boot.

Launch the registry editor by opening the Start menu, typing “regedit” into it, and pressing Enter. Agree to the UAC prompt.
Next, you’ll need to change the “InitialKeyboardIndicators” value in several places.
First, head to HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelKeyboard. Double-click the “InitialKeyboardIndicators” value in the right pane and set it to “2”.
Next, expand the “HKEY_USERS” folder. You’ll now need to repeat the above process several times, changing the InitialKeyboardIndicators value under each folder inside the HKEY_USERS folder.
Start by going to HKEY_USERS.DEFAULTControl PanelKeyboard, and changing the InitialKeyboardIndicators value to 2. Next, repeat the process for the folder below the .DEFAULT folder–it’ll start with an “S-“.
Repeat this process for the remaining folders inside HKEY_USERS, changing the Control PanelKeyboardInitialKeyboardIndicators setting under each one.
Step Two: Use This Trick (or Disable Fast Startup)
Once you’re done, you should just be able to reboot and Windows 10 should automatically enable Num Lock at boot. However, it doesn’t actually work this way. The Fast Startup feature, also known as Hybrid Boot, overrides this setting and Windows will continue to boot with Num Lock off.
We’ve found two ways to prevent this from happening. You could disable fast startup, but we’ve found a better trick that should work for you without losing the advantages of hybrid boot.
After you run the .reg file, shut down your computer. Don’t reboot it–select the “Shut down” option.
Boot the computer back up again. When you reach the login screen, press the Num Lock key once to enable it. Don’t log into the computer. From the login screen, click the power button and select “Shut down” to shut down the computer again.
Boot the computer back up and Num Lock will be enabled on the login screen. It seems that this puts Fast Startup into a state where it will automatically enable Num Lock at every boot. Yes, this is a weird trick–but it works. (Thanks to DznyRulz on Reddit for discovering this!)

You could also prevent this from happening by disabling the Fast Startup feature after making the above tweaks to your registry. If the trick above doesn’t work for you, try disabling Fast Startup instead.
Install ubuntu desktop on windows. To do so, open the Control Panel, click “Hardware and Sound,” click “Power Options,” and click “Choose what the power buttons do.” Click the “Change settings that are currently unavailable link at the top of this screen, and then scroll down and uncheck the “Turn on fast startup (recommended)” option. Click “Save changes.”
When you boot your computer, it should now boot a bit slower–perhaps just a few seconds longer on an SSD–but the Num Lock key will be enabled at boot.
Ideally, Windows would do all this by default, but for now, it’s one of those things that takes a bit of extra work just to do something simple. But it’s well worth the convenience.

but I can't find On-Screen Display tab in windows 10 so this solution didn't work also, so can anyone help me it's really annoying especially when i'm playing it closes the game to show me the notification.

No windows version has those icons and windows 10 is one of them. That comes from Lenovo computers. Check with them, not microsoft.
7h3w1z4rd7h3w1z4rdA little late but I just solved this for my self so i'm posting for future visitors.It's not a windows feature. A third party program is responsible for this.
In my case it was Hkcmd. Depending on the brand of your hardware it could be something different but it will be something related to Hot Keys or acronym of that (Hk)
On my system, I opened the start menu, then control panel, under Appearance and Personalization, I clicked Adjust screen resolution, then Advanced settings, then in the pop-up window I selected the On Screen Display tab. There, I unchecked the Enable On-screen Display checkbox.
Caps lock and/or num lock icons displaying permanently on Lenovo laptop screen
I have a Lenovo E530c laptop running on Windows 10. I was experiencing the same problem as many users, judging from the number of on line queries and posts, with the caps lock and/or num lock icons staying permanently on at the bottom centre of the screen (black boxes containing either a white numeral one or a capital letter A).
Several posts suggested going to Control Panel, and clicking on “Display,” then clicking on the “Show the indicator for a few seconds” option. This disables the “Always show the indicator” option that was apparently the root of the problem. I tried this to discover that there was no “Display” option under “Control Panel” on my machine.
I eventually clicked on “Settings”, which resulted in a menu with a “Display” option. I clicked on the “display adapter properties” link at the very bottom of this page, which led to a series of tabs, one of which is “screen configurations”. This where I found the caps/numlock display options mentioned above.
So if your machine doesn’t have a “Display” heading under Control Panel (like mine) the solution is:
- Click on the “search” icon at the bottom left of the screen
- Type in “Control panel” (both words)
- Click on “Settings”
- Click on “Display”
- Click on “Display adapter settings” at the bottom of the screen
- Click on the “Screen configurations” tab
- Click on the “Show the indicator for a few seconds'
Numlock Icon On Display Windows 10
Ah, this is a Lenovo thing I've been baffled by this. I am including screenshots for Windows 10 Pre-Release updates that are a little different than the above.
The software installer includes 41 files and is usually about 16.92 MB (17,739,968 bytes). Upon installation and setup, it defines an auto-start registry entry which makes this program run on each Windows boot for all user logins. The main program executable is nvAppBar.exe. Nvidia nview driver download. The most used version is 6.7, with over 46% of all installations currently using this version. When installed, it will add a context menu handler to the Windows shell in order to provide quick access to the program.
Oddly, you won't get the same tabs in this menu by going to the Device Manager. So this should be straight-forward (Especially for upcoming releases).
Hopefully this visual (A bit different) helps anyone that cannot get the above instructions right.
This 'feature' drove me nuts. I could not find Hkcmd in task manager and this post helped me find how to do this in Windows Build 1903 (from System Update) -- I no longer use Windows Insiders Program
